And now I start again
For guilt and conscience’s sake
And so I start again
In misery’s dark wake
I swear I will start over
And change what was before
I’ll burn my leaden feathers
Till limb and bone are sore
But after I’ll be free again
And soar through sky and cloud
Know that I shall fly again
And wish myself a god
But I shall have to die again
Or be consumed by flame
That fall will seem more terrible
The restart yet the same
For though I may start over
And wish my self away
I must bear my old burden
And keep my heathen name.
